Michael Twomey was born in Fairborn, Ohio in 1948 to Thomas and Genevieve Twomey. His father joined the Army Air Corps in WWII, retired in 1962. Michael attended military schools until his graduation from Augsburg American High School in West Germany in 1966 and volunteered for the draft. He was sent to Fort Dix, New Jersey for basic training and then to Fort Sill for OCS and field artillery school. After graduation, he was deployed to Freiburg, Germany to the 3rd Armored Division, 3rd Brigade. He served as the forward observer, the fire direction officer, the executive officer, the staff officer, the S3 at the battalion headquarters, and the battery commander for headquarters battery during his two years in Germany. In 1969, Michael extended his service obligation, was promoted to Captain and was transferred to Vietnam. In May, 1970, Michael took command of LZ Siberia as fire base commander and served there until his discharge in December. When he was discharged, Michael attended junior college in Panama City, received his AA degree, attended business school at FSU receiving a pre law, business degree and attended law school in 1973. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for about 12 years travelling to Ecuador, Chile, Peru and Guatemala as well as Panama City. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel retiring with 20 years in the army reserves. After retirement, Michael worked as a state appellate court clerk, worked at the Appellate Service Commission working for the PSE and for the Florida House of Representatives as a staff council. He opened his own law practice in 1994.
