Ed saw action in both the European and Pacific Theaters, including two D-Day operations. Born in Shreveport, Ed joined the Navy on July 6, 1943. He was sent to Hospital Corps School, and later volunteered for overseas duty. June 6, 1944 found him on LST 335 as a corpsman in a Beach Evacuation Party. He went ashore to help remove wounded. The Navy returned Ed to the states and sent him to the Fifth Marine Division and its Medical Field Service School. Assigned to duty in the Pacific with the 23rd Infantry Regiment, he made his second D-Day landing on Okinawa on April 1, 1945. After Japan surrendered, Ed was sent to Tientsin, China for six months. He received his honorable discharge on May 17, 1946 as a pharmacist mate, second class. Ed spent most of his career in public relations, and served as executive vice president and general manager of the State Fair of Louisiana.
