A native and still resident of Alexandria, Louisiana, Mr. Crumplar sailed overseas to enter the war in the invasion of North Africa. He was a corporal of the guard with 704th Engineer Railway Grand Division, part of First Military Railway Service Transportation Corps. His division repaired and maintained tracks and kept trains of supplies en route to U.S. forces. Relations with local Arabs were always uneasy at best.
