Dr. Rosenzweig, a Mississippi native who grew up in Tallulah, had flown 26 missions, or strikes as they were called, against the Japan naval forces, serving as a radioman on a TBM Avenger Bomber, and based aboard the USS Bunker Hill (CV-17). On April 7 he had helped sink the Japanese battleship, Yamato. A month later, on May 11, he was rising from a nap when he heard two whomps. Kamikaze planes had just flown into the vessel.
