Ron Anderson was one of four children born in Many, Louisiana to J. B. and Margaret Bergeron Anderson. Ron's parents brought him to Shreveport to Confederate Memorial (LSU, now Ocshner's) and then to Shriners Hospital after he developed polio at three years of age. When he was about six, he saw Elvis performing on television and became interested in playing the guitar and when he was eight years old his parents bought him a Davy Crockett guitar as a Christmas present. On Saturdays Ron would go downtown with his dad where they would visit the Walker and Rodie music store. There he met many of the older guitar players including James Burton, Dino Zimmerman and Jerry Beach. Because of his polio he had about seven to ten surgeries including bone grafts, muscle transplants but was still active in several bands including, The Living End, which played at St. Theresa's CYO, St. Joseph's CYO and Mansfield High School. After graduation he attended Northeast (now Louisiana Monroe) on a political science scholarship. There he also received his musical education. He was inspired by Scotty Moore, Carl Perkins, Chet Adkins and James Burton in the `50s and so many more in the `60s and `70s. One of the best shows he saw in Shreveport was at the Municipal Auditorium where he saw Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and Percy Sledge backed up by Booker T. and the M. G.'s. Ron recorded Easy Street at the Southern Star recording studio on Line Avenue where George Clinton was the engineer. Not long after Easy Street, Ron went on the road with Claude King. Many times on the road, they parked the bus at a KOA by a river so Claude could go fishing but they played every night and they also backed other country artists like Lefty Frizzell, Dottie West and Merle Haggard. When he went solo he played at the Tack Room where he met his future wife Rebecca. Working solo and producing his own album led to bankruptcy so he decided to go back to school and graduated with a degree in public relations and communications from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. And as soon as he finished school, he began playing again in Houston and Galveston. The difficulty with being a musician in those years was that there was no internet and you had to mail out or present your product in person because you most likely would not be discovered singing in a diner in Shreveport where the big clubs were in the Bossier Strip and in the Square in Shreveport. His favorite artists are Jim Suhler, Robin Ford, the Allman brothers, Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits and he especially loves A Train, a local Shreveport band.
