Robert "Bobby" E. Jeans, Sr. was born in Brooklyn, New York to William and Emma Jeans. Bobby was one of eight children. He played on the football team, was a championship wrestler, ran track and worked construction during high school and graduated from Kenilworth in 1968. He was drafted and went to Fort Dix, New Jersey for basic training and Fort Polk, Louisiana for AIT. He was assigned to the Americal Division serving in Alpha Company 4^th of the 31^st. In 1972, after returning from Vietnam, Bobby joined the Kenilworth police force, became a sergeant, then joined the detective bureau and retired as lieutenant. He married Lenore Morrison Jeans in 1972 and had one son.
