Dr. Warren Grafton was born in Ruston, Louisiana to George Donovan Grafton and Agnes Robison Grafton. His brother is Dr. Hoy Grafton. Warren has always loved music. He joined the adult choir at Bernice Methodist Church, directed by his mother, a trained soprano. He also sang in choir at Bernice High School, where he graduated in 1955. As a teenager, he loved listening to Fats Domino, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and the Beatles. Warren earned a degree from Louisiana State University in 1959, then from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1962. He completed an internship at Confederate Memorial Hospital in Shreveport, and then served in the U.S. Air Force as a medical officer at Little Rock Air Force Base. He returned to Shreveport in 1965 where he finished pathology training four years later at Confederate Hospital. He then entered the faculty at LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport in the first year of its existence. On November 20, 1987, Dr. Grafton married Carol Nyquist. Over the years Shreveport has come to know Warren as a man of both music and medicine. A singer and song writer, he has produced CDs of his music mostly in country western and gospel genres. Warren also plays guitar, mandolin, and piano. He performs at several venues, such as the Overton Brooks VA Hospital each Saturday morning, as well as at churches and senior citizen luncheons. He played guitar in the band for Shreveport Little Theater's production of "Smoke on the Mountains," sang in "The Messiah" for Shreveport Symphony and with his church choir at Carnegie Hall.
